Guilty, As Charged (or am I?)

Yep, I'm a slacker. I admit it! It has been nearly 2 months since I wrote anything here. I feel bad about that, but not so bad I am going to beat myself up over it.  You see, since I last wrote one of my dear friends passed suddenly and quite unexpectedly.  My friend, Ben, loved hockey and beer and November Project. He loved life and lived with passion and gusto.  Ben's sudden death has made me realize that life is too short to allow guilt to creep in over little things like a blog post.

In honor of my friend, Ben,  I am sharing a list of things I will NOT feel guilty about:
  1. Spending time with my family.  This includes the off-days, like today, when I am off work on a Monday and the power goes out at the grandson's daycare. Yes, I had a list of things I had planned on doing today. No, I will not get them all done. No, I will not feel guilty about spending the day playing and sharing with my grandson.
  2. Spending time with my friends. My husband and I are taking a trip in a few weeks to spend time with dear friends in Boston. Can we afford it? Not really. Are we going anyway? Yes! Will I feel guilty about it? No way!!
  3. Doing things for myself. At the beginning of 2017 I promised myself I would do more to take care of myself. I am keeping that promise to myself! So far, I have lost over 50 pounds, participated in two 5K races, and joined a yoga class. I do NOT feel guilty about taking time for myself and my health.  In the end, if I do not take care of myself I will not be around as long to enjoy my precious family and friends.
  4. Having adventures. It is the dream of my husband and I to travel, to do things together. We will not postpone having adventures together, but will embrace each trip and each new experience with the idea that we have to stretch our comfort zone in order for it to grow! Getting out of our comfort zone is good for us and I will not allow guilt to take that joy away.
My husband and I have taken to trying new experiences with the hashtag: #alwaysgo. It is a good motto that I would encourage you to adopt as well.

Peace, Love, and Adventure!
Teresa
